Cornerstone Energy provided engineering, design, and survey services for the development of a compressed natural gas (CNG) decompression system for injection into a local distribution system in New York. In this system, our client delivers CNG via tractor trailers and is offloaded, regulated, and injected into the local distribution system.
Cornerstone was responsible for designing a facility capable of offloading sixteen CNG trailers simultaneously, a CNG decompression skid (including pre-heater, pressure regulation and the hydronic system), a metering and overpressure protection skid as well as the piping required to tie-in these systems to the existing distribution system.
In response to growing peak winter demand for gas, restrictions on new pipeline supply to the region, and permitting challenges for new LNG facilities, gas system operators and end users are turning to large scale CNG as a cost-effective and rapidly deployable peak-shaving option.
By employing our skilled professionals, process knowledge, and safety-first mindset, Cornerstone was successful in permitting and designing this CNG-based peak shaving facility for our client and the local utility.
